Ruth M. Martinez, M.A., is Executive Director of the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. She will be joined by our own Pete Smyth who serves on this Board. Their presentation will provide us with an overview of the work the Board does as it relates to physician licensure, complaints, and other pertinent issues.
Ruth Martinez has a long career in public service and has been with the Board since 1988, including 12 years as Supervisor of the Board’s Complaint Review Unit. Ms. Martinez is a graduate of St Catherine University where she earned her Master’s degree in organizational leadership. In her work with the Board, she collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in healthcare regulation and the healthcare delivery system. She frequently represents the Board on task forces, work groups and coalitions. Ms. Martinez has been actively involved with development and implementation of collaborative initiatives, programs, procedures, and technological advancements that improve access to regulatory information, enhance patient safety, and increase process transparency.
